Who's your Councillor?

Your Councillor

Each ward (small area of the District) has councillors representing it on the Council. If you have an issue you want raised about local services provided by the Council you can contact your local councillor and ask him or her to take action.

Click on this link to find out who your councillor is.

If you have any questions on what a Councillor is or more advice on how to raise an issue e-mail nwells@tendringdc.gov.uk

Your MP

Alternatively you could contact your local Member of Parliament or MP who represents a larger area than you local councillor. Your MP is the person who represents you in the UK Parliament. Each MP represents an area of the UK called a constituency and an MP is elected for a maximum of five years. There are two constituencies in Tendring these are called Harwich and North Essex.

Your MP splits their time between work at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London and local work in your area.

Your MP might:

  • Help address the issues of people living in your area by holding a regular surgery;
  • Help make a law by speaking in a debate in the House of Commons or sitting on a committee in Parliament;
  • Keep an eye on what the Government is doing by asking an 'official' question in the House of Commons;
  • Find out what the local people in your area think about a particular issue; and
  • Support a campaign to change the law.

This link will show you who your MP is and how to contact him.
