Play Areas

New & Improved Play Facilities

Tendring District Council has scooped over £288,000 in Big Lottery funding to provide new and refurbished play areas across Tendring.  Working with our partners we are taking forward five separate projects, which are detailed below:

Interactive Play Route, Harwich & Dovercourt – The interactive Play Route will link a number of existing play areas in the Harwich and Dovercourt area as well as providing new and exciting play equipment at a number of locations along the route.

The Play Route will run from Harwich Green, Harwich via Cliff Park, Dovercourt to Dovercourt Swimming Pool and Low Road Recreation Ground, Dovercourt.

Teenage Facilities, Park Playing Fields, Frinton – This project will provide much needed teenage play provision at Park Playing Fields, Frinton.  The project consists of the construction of a multi-use games area as well as a youth shelter.

Teenage Facilities, Tokley Road, Frating – The aim of this project is to purchase one hectare of land in the parish.  Once purchased the project will be the construction of a multi-use games area, fencing and landscaping of the site.  If further funding becomes available the site will be developed further with additional equipment being provided.

Improved Facilities, Ray Avenue, Dovercourt – By replacing the existing equipment at this site, the project will provide improved play facilities in the form of a fenced play area.  The project also includes a DDA compliant footpath from the field entrance and will enable children to play safety in an area where dogs are banned.

Improved Facilities, Lady Nelson Playing Field, Thorpe-le-Soken – This aim of this project is to provide improved play facilities to achieve greater play opportunities for young people.  The project will provide inclusive play equipment to all children and young people.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Throughout the life of the projects we will be consulting with young people regarding the various projects as well as taking forward satisfaction questionnaires.  We will place surveys on this site as and when so please check back and participate in the surveys to make sure your voice is heard.

If you wish to comment direct on any of the projects or would like further information contact Kirsty Horton, Play Officer on khorton@tendringdc.gov.uk or 01255 686622.
