Crime and Disorder

The district of Tendring is one of the safest places to live in the UK.

Home Office figures have shown that only four out of the 40 police forces in England had a lower crime rate than Essex.

In 2004 a survey asked young people in the UK whether they had been victims of crime. The Mori Youth Survey 2004 found that in the 12 months before they were surveyed:

  • 26% had been threatened by other(s)

  • 23% had been bullied

  • 21% had something stolen from them (6% was a mobile phone stolen)

  • 14% had something which belonged to them damaged or destroyed on purpose

  • 13% had been physically attacked

  • 4% had been racially abused

  • 1% had been racially attacked

  • 39% said that they had not been a victim of any crime
